Outlaw King (2018)

Ever since Mel Brooks said, “It’s good to be the king,” in History of the World, Part 1 (1981), the line has become a popular catch phrase. This may explain the releases of regal-titled works including King of the Ants (2003), King Arthur (2004), King Cobra (2016), King of Thieves (2018), The King (2019), King of Knives (2020), The Woman King (2023), and Arthur the King (2024). Of course, we can’t forget Outlaw King (2018) which imparts the legacy of Robert the Bruce of the 14th-century. Angus Macfadyen played the famed Scotsman in Mel Gibson’s Oscar winning epic Braveheart (1995) as well as in Richard Gray’s lesser-known biopic Robert the Bruce (2019). Under the direction of co-writer David Mackenzie, this historic flick has Chris Pine stepping into the titular role — and out of his clothes! Yes, the handsome hunk goes full frontal in the lake. So, that’s why this Netflix movie will have you streaming! In addition to showcasing Pine’s flesh, the action drama features Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Lord James Douglas and Rebecca Robin as Queen Margaret of France. It relays the saga of the Earl of Carrick (aka Robert the Bruce) who united Scotland by defeating the English army despite having fewer troops. But as the saying goes, “behind every great man is a great woman.” And it’s great to see the naked T&A on Chris as his character ploughs Elizabeth de Burgh (Florence Pugh) by candlelight. In other words, ogling the bare body on Pine will give you wood!
