Pedro, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2021)

The Brazilian biopic Pedro, Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2021) chronicles the life of Dom Pedro I (Cauã Reymond), the founder and first ruler of the Empire of Brazil. Born just before the turn of the 19th century, we meet the man who would come to be known affectionately as The Liberator in 1831, just after he has abdicated the throne. The film finds him pondering the decisions of his life up until this point, as he sails from South America toward his ultimate destination of Portugal, where he would die of tuberculosis three years later. One such ponderance takes him back to a bizarre sexual encounter he has with a woman, and though we do get to see leading man Cauã Reymond's cock, balls, and butt in the scene, it's kinda sad as he just ends up jerking off in front of her. Give the filmmakers credit for showing a rather pathetic side of a beloved leader!
