Director David Gordon Green hit a high water mark with his 2013 indie Prince Avalanche, about two construction workers living in isolation in the middle of Texas. Alvin (Paul Rudd) and Lance (Emile Hirsch) are hired to finish off roads deep in a Texas forest that was ravaged by wildfires. They spend their days primarily painting the yellow lines on the pavement, and at night they make small talk as there is literally no one around for hundreds of miles. Prince Avalanche takes place in 1988, before cell phones. Alvin is content with his remote lifestyle, but Lance, who is Alvin's girlfriend's brother, is just here for the money and becomes restless. How restless? He masturbates in the tent that he shares with Alvin. That restless! The magic in Prince Avalanche is the touching friendship that arises between Alvin and Lance. How touching? Okay, so this isn't a gay movie, but we still love the shot of both Emile Hirsch and Paul Rudd cleaning up by a stream. Paul is shirtless while Emile only wears his wet tighty whities. Get ready for an Avalanche... in yo pants!
