Ride or Die (2021)

For as long as Rei (Kiko Mazuhara) has known Nanae (Honami Satô), she has been in love with her. When they were classmates in school, Rei developed stronger feelings for Nanae than mere platonic friendship. However, they lost touch and only come back into touch because Rei discovers that Nanae has married an abusive man name Kotaro (Shinya Niiro). Knowing that she would do literally anything to earn Nanae's love, she helps her old friend concoct a plan to enact a brutal revenge on the man who has spent the last few years treating her like a piece of meat. Nanae is repulsed by the idea of actually committing the murder, but wants very much to be rid of her spouse, so Rei agrees to sacrifice herself to him sexually, in order to get him in a vulnerable enough place to murder him! The Japanese film Ride or Die (2021) essentially opens with this murder, featuring a look at Shinya Niiro's bare buns while he begins to have sex with and is ultimately stabbed in the neck by Kiko Mazuhara! The murder is more or less devoid of proper context, it's once Rei and Nanae go on the run in this two hour and twenty minute thriller, that the story comes into focus and we begin to learn about the characters' history together. So while it might be difficult to enjoy Shinya's ass under the contextualized circumstances, the fact that it comes so early in the narrative, before you know him as a person, that makes it easier to enjoy! Either way, we certainly enjoy what we're seeing!
