Passion meets fashion in the romantic drama Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky (2009), not to be confused with the similar biopic Coco Before Chanel (2009). Based on Chris Greenhalgh’s fictional novel “Coco and Igor” (2002), the true life-inspired story begins in Paris in 1913 when a young Coco Chanel (Anna Mouglalis) sets out to revolutionize the fashion industry. But first the French fox must attend a new ballet written by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky (Mads Mikklesen) who is revolutionizing classical music. As such, the two artsy innovators are immediately drawn to each other. But their amore can’t be too public or too long-lasting since Igor is already married to painter Catherine (Elena Morozova). Nevertheless, the couturière and the composer get busy together while keeping busy within their respective careers. In other words, she creates her iconic perfume Chanel No. 5 and he revises the orchestral portion of The Rite of Spring ballet. Along the way, we get to admire the hairy chest and tight tush on Russian dancer Vaslav Nijinsky (Marek Kossakowski). Under the direction of Jan Kounen (who co-wrote the screenplay with Carlo de Boutiny), this R rated flick includes coverage of art critic Sergei Diaghilev (Grigori Manoukov), arts patron Misia Sert (Natacha Lindinger), British polo player Boy Capel (Anatole Taubman), perfumer Ernest Beaux (Nicolas Vaude), and the regal Grand Duke Dmitri (Rasha Bukvic). Yet we’re most impressed with the sensuality on display — especially when Mr. Mikklesen bares his back and ass while having sex. Yes, we’re mad about Mads!
