The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005) tells the story of a man torn between the destructive, violent side he inherited from his father and the benevolent, creative side encultured by his mother. When the movie starts, Tom (Romain Duris) is a seedy real estate agent just like his dad, making dirty deals and frequently beating up dudes who don't pay when they're supposed to. One day, he runs into his late mom's impresario, who used to book all her piano concerts and remembers how talented Tom was when he was younger. The impresario invites Tom to audition for him, and Tom hires a Chinese coach who speaks no English to help him prepare, so he communicates with her through music alone. Though he is immediately obsessed with the idea of following in his mom's footsteps, he can't pull himself away from his father's business, especially when a Russian mobster gets involved. He nails the piece he's prepared for tis audition, but falls apart after staying up all night working on a real estate deal and trying to keep his dad safe. Things don't turn out too great—for anyone involved. Tom doesn't get together with his coach unfortunately, but we do get a great glimpse of Romain as he gets out of bed naked, showing of his beautiful glutes! Every time Tom tickles the keys, you'll get a tickle in your pants.
