The String (2009)

Secrets are inadvertently revealed in the gay-centric Le Fil (or, The String, 2009). Malik (Antonin Stahly-Vishwanadan) returns to Tunisia to take care of his mother Sara (Claudia Cardinale) after his father’s unexpected death. Leaving behind a successful life as an architect in Paris -- and a life lived as an openly gay man -- Malik finds life in Tunisia suffocating. He later finds comfort with Bilal (Salim Kechiouche), a hunky handyman working on his mother’s estate. When Sara finds the two in bed, Malik has to figure out how to handle his mother’s disbelief and satisfy his own desires. Be on the lookout for Kechiouche’s bare buns in a post-coital moment with Stahly-Vishwanadan. We wish there was more naked time in this film, but, sadly, there seem to have been strings attached.
