Acclaimed actor and director Yūsuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima) has everything he could ever want in life.  He is respected as an artists for his work on stage and screen, he has a Saab 900 car in mint condition that he loves, and he has a beautiful and caring wife at home.  When he gets offered to produce, direct, and star in a play in Hiroshima, he jumps at the chance, but his flight ends up getting delayed, so he just heads back home for the day.  That's when his whole world is shattered as he walks in on his wife having sex with another man on their couch.  Yūsuke doesn't freak out and cause a scene, he just quietly leaves and pretends that he went on his trip, never mentioning what he saw to his wife.  Inside he is crushed, but he keeps up appearances to keep his wife happy, even continuing to have sex with her frequently.  Then when he decides to confront her about it, he finds that she suddenly has died before he ever got to talk to her about her affair.  What follows for Yūsuke is a tumultuous emotional period where he goes to produce the play in Hiroshima, but hires a young girl to drive his car for him around town as he faces the haunting mysteries his deceased wife left behind about her secret double life behind his back.  Star Hidetoshi Nishijima shows off his buns a bit in this drama from Japan that scooped up a Best Picture nominations at the Academy Awards!
