Robert Redford, the iconic actor-turned-director and founder of the Sundance Film Institute has passed away at age 89. Though he started his career on the stages of New York and then on the small screen, he soon became a hot commodity in Tinseltown, known for his golden-boy looks and exuberant charm that seemed built for leading man status.
Robert Redford's Sexiest Scenes
He was a boner-fide heartthrob during the New Hollywood Renaissance of the 1960s and 70s, and though he never went nude, Robert delivered some absolutely drool-worthy shirtless scenes, starting with him coming out of the bathroom in 1969’s Downhill Racer.

The following year he was all swagger again in Little Fauss and Big Halsy, and then in 1973, Robert scored big with a string of hit films, starting with The Way We Were and The Sting (which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Lead Actor).

Robert’s last tease of skin came in 1990’s Havana, but by that point he had already moved behind the camera and take home the Best Director trophy for 1980’s Ordinary People.

The perpetual sex symbol was also a champion for independent film, starting the Sundance Film Festival and subsequent Institute, Cinemas, and Channel (all named after his character in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) to help exhibit indie films from around the world.
His later years saw him very active behind the scenes as a producer, but he also kept acting into his eighties, with his last credited appearance on screen being his return to the MCU as Alexander Pierce in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. On the day of his passing, we take a moment to celebrate the shirtless screen idol and his many accomplishments through the years.
