Biography

The larger-than-life comic Robert Kelly is one of the funniest, cutest, and edgiest comics ever to come out of the Boston comedy scene. You might have to do some edging to his body, because kid, he'll get you wicked hahhhd! Speaking of hard, Robert's early life wasn't exactly easy. Robert got started in comedy after struggling with alcohol addiction as a teenager, and early on in his career was in a comedy troupe with Dane Cook. Eventually the group split and Robert killed it as a solo stand up comic. In the late 90's he moved to New York City and started doing a bit of acting, as well. He made his debut with a bit role in Last Night at Eddie's (1997), but by the early 2000's Robert's career had really taken off. He was telling jokes on Last Call with Carson Daly in 2003, then teamed with Cook both as himself on HBO's behind the scenes of a comedy tour special Tourgasm and as an airports security guard in Good Luck Chuck (2007). In 2010, Robert teamed with another Boston comic, Louis C.K. to play his brother Robbie on the critical darling Louie. Louie had us feeling spewy when, in one episode, Robert sat on his couch in just a white towel. Eventually him and Louie start to fight about a broken flip phone, which lets us see Robert's towel come close to slipping. Wish Robert would throw in the towel and stop the fight! Then, we'd have to fight our urges seeing him go full frontal! As a bit of a yo yo dieter, Kelly's got a bit of a belly, but all that bald headed beef still looks mighty tasty. Robert was Bam Bam on FX's short lived aging rocker TV show Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll which also starred Boston comic Denis Leary, and played Bobby in the NYC dramedy that Louis C.K. wrote, Fourth of July (2022). Those Boston guys sure stick together. Wish they'd get sticky together, too! But Robert will always be a standup at heart. Apart from the podcasts he sometimes appears on, you should check out his comedy specials Robert Kelly: Live at the Village Underground (2014) and Robert Kelly Kill Box (2022). We're sure the jiggly joke maker, Robert Kelly, has slayed some box in his day.
