Biography

The handsomely distinguished Robert Loggia was a supporting pillar of the big and small screens for over six decades. While some of our younger readers might remember him from all the Family Guy jokes or the orange juice commercial that became a meme, Robert was a legitimate movie star who even scored a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his work in Jagged Edge (1985). Originally from Staten Island, the Korean War Veteran and University of Missouri grad got his start on the stage before transitioning to film and television. Robert was on every big TV show there was in the 60's, from playing Elfego Baca on The Magical World of Disney and Maria Jose Chappala on Rawhide to showing up in episodes of Combat!, The Wild, Wild West and The Untouchables. After playing a version of Joseph who definitely would have deflowered Mary in The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965), Robert and his very touchable body were great as the stars of T.H.E. Cat, an NBC action show about a cat burglar turned bodyguard. How many young men discovered their bicuriosity to that cat? He did more TV in the 70s like The Rockford Files, The Bionic Woman and The Six Million Dollar Man, as well as playing Al Marchione in Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978). But it was in the 80's that all the pink kitties started dying for doggy while watching Robert Loggia. It was our honor to see Robert’s impressive rump in the classic drama An Officer and a Gentleman (1982). What a gentleman to show us! See, Robert was Richard Gere's ne'er do well daddy, Byron Mayo who we see sleeping off a sex filled night with a hooker. We even got a peek of peen when his boxer flap flew open, which had us slinging some mayo in our pants! Even the most hardcore Christians know when it comes to creamy white goodness, it's worth the trip to Hell for that man's! Other memorable roles from Robert included playing drug lord Frank Lopez in Scarface (1983), private detective Sam Ransom in Jagged Edge (1985), Michael's wealthy grandpa Jason Cutler in Over the Top (1987) and Mr. MacMillan, the toy company owner who had us reaching for some adult toys in Big (1989). While the big hair decade was likely the peak of his career, Robert landed some memorable roles on both the big and small screens in the 90's and 2000's, like playing General William Grey in Independence Day (1996), Mr. Eddy in Lost Highway (1997), original Cosa Nostra member Feech LaManna on The Sopranos, and even scored an Emmy nomination for his work on Malcolm in the Middle as Lois' step-dad Victor Welker. While he acted as long as he could, in 2010 Loggia was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and passed away from the disease in 2015. We'll always miss Robert Loggia, who made us so h-a-R as in Robert Loggia-D!
