Saturday Night (2024)

For his tenth feature film, Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air) decided to take audiences behind the ninety minutes leading up to the broadcast of the very first episode of Saturday Night Live, which was then called—like the film itself—Saturday Night (2024). A young Lorne Michaels (Gabriel LaBelle) spends the entire film battling an apathetic network, wrangling the egos of his burgeoning stars, and preparing to fill a void in the life of twenty-something Baby Boomers at the time, giving them a reason to stay home on Saturday Night. In the run-up to the first episode, Chevy Chase (Cory Michael Smith) is attempting to big dog Mr. Entertainment himself, Milton Berle (J.K. Simmons), in front of his girlfriend Jacqueline (Kaia Gerber). This film is clearly leaning into the old urban legend about Uncle Milty's endowment because Berle silences the conversation by whipping out his enormous (prosthetic) cock! Sorry Chevy, looks like he's Milton Berle, and you're not!
