Our Staff Picks column is a new addition that takes you back to a time when video stores reigned supreme and the "Staff Picks" section was the place to find out what films were worthy of one's time. Of course, our version has a decidedly nude angle, as we suss out which films from a certain genre with great nudity. This week: 90s England!
Why 90s England? Why not! British cinema rarely gets the spotlight that it deserves, but a lot of British films are far too polite to show off nudity. When they do, however, it is worth pointing out. 90s movies in England began getting creative with nudity as we were introduced to some of the hottest UK actors in the buff through wonderful storytelling and nude scenes that advanced the plots.
Here are our Staff Picks for the sexiest films from 90s England:
Trainspotting
This film remains one of the best from this era and it put nearly everyone involved on the map. Danny Boyle's cult classic made us all fall in love with Ewan McGregor. That's for a very good reason: he went nude and he looked hot doing it. The Scottish sexpot isn't the only thing people love about the film.
The very wild British film is based on a novel by Irvine Welsh and it follows young junkies. We see a lot of junkie junk in this film! Sure, there are some heroin injections in the booty. But there are also bare naked dicks. So get your fix!
Beautiful Thing
This beautiful British flick is sorely underrated, but it deserves some praise for showing young men in love. The film follows a loner footballer who likes to take a break from sports to spend time a lot. He befriends Ste, a jock who seeks refuge from his abusive father. He stays with the loner's family and the pair share a bed which leads to the pair cuddling and catching feelings.
Scott Neal is one of the lads who shows his beautiful buns. Oh, so that's the titular Beautiful Thing.
Rogue Trader
This 1999 film brings Ewan McGregor back as a bank employee in Asia who does some insider trading. If only we could get inside of his pants! We sort of do when he and Lee Ross get drunk and rowdy. The pair lower their trousers and moon the camera! McGregor also shows his ballsack in a quick, blurry shot where Ewan beds a lucky hen.
The Full Monty
Here is one of the most popular British films of the 90s - and the sexiest. In this Oscar-nominated comedy, we see some working-class dudes from Sheffield get creative to make a living after they all get laid off from their jobs at the steel mill. How do they do that? They become male strippers!
In this wildly inventive and charming comedy, we got the best of all worlds: a touching story with scenes that make you want to touch yourself. The film features the hineys of hotties like Mark Addy, Robert Carlyle, Paul Barber, Steve Huison, Tom Wilkinson, and Hugo Speer.
We never quite see their cocks, but we get to feast our eyes on their juicy peaches again and again as the guys get better at their group dance numbers. Check out one of those fine numbers here:
