Like James McAvoy, John Hannah and Greg Wise, method actor Robert Carlyle graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After making his movie debut in Ken Loach’s award winner Riff-Raff (1991), Carlyle was cast in the gay drama Priest (1994) wherein he reveals his chest and same-sex preference for Linus Roache in bed. Amen to that! Robert re-teamed with Loach for the TV movie Carla’s Song (1996). His shirtless turn paid off with a London Critics Circle Film Award and an Evening Standard British Film Award for Best Actor. Next came the Danny Boyle hit Trainspotting (1996) with Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, and Kelly Macdonald. Of course, when it comes to ensemble flicks, nothing beats The Full Monty (1997). A success with fans and critics alike, the Oscar-nominated comedy features Mark Addy, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Barber, and Robert’s bulging briefs! If that’s not hot enough, the hottie also displays his naked T&A! No wonder Robert received SAG and BAFTA Awards! He also racked up an RTS Television Award for Hamish Macbeth (1995-1998); a Satellite Award for the miniseries Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003); and a Gemini Award for Stargate Universe (2009-2011).
