America's Mercury Seven were the first space explorers to lift off from the United States, making them household names and veritable heroes. The earth-bound cameras looked to their young wives and families while they cruised through outer space, documenting their lives at home without their husbands and telling their stories in the meantime. The result? These women rose to fame faster than you can say "Pluto." Based on Lily Koppel's novel, The Astronuat Wives Club (2015) is a limited series recounting the trials, tribulations, and scandals these ladies experienced during the great space race.
This show isn't just about the women, though. There are plenty of scumptuous scenes of the space travelers themselves—like that one time Wilson Bethel took a bubble bath and wore nothing but soapy suds. Yum.
