The Card Counter (2021) is a drama about redemption but through the eyes of a gambler. If that doesn't sound exciting, then keep reading because the cast and director of this film will have you jumping to see it in a heartbeat. Paul Shrader wrote and directed this drama and he's the brilliant mind behind Taxi Driver and First Reformed - two excellent films. The movie has a star-studded cast which includes Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan, and Willem Dafoe. Okay, interested now? Let's talk plot, then. An ex-military interrogator is now a gambler who counts cards. He gets recruited by Tiffany Haddish to work for her and they start a beautiful relationship, but Isaac's character is haunted by his ex-military past. He did some regretful things. This is a revenge story that also wonders if someone with a past like his is worthy of redemption. Can any of us ever shed our pasts? Or is it simply not in the cards? Do you see what we did there?! What is in the cards is a sensual sex scene between Oscar Isaac and Tiffany Haddish. Whoever thought that would happen? The comedian turned actress is great in the film, and the critically beloved actor is SEXY in this straight scene that shows his hairy thighs and his strong back. His character has some tats on his shoulder and on his back. One of the tattoos is of two American flags. Well, watching Oscar Isaac will make you give him a stiff salute in your pants.
