The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

No Nudity

Review

Adapted from John Green’s young adult best seller of the same name, The Fault in Our Stars (2014) follows Hazel (Shailene Woodley), a sixteen-year-old chick stricken with thyroid cancer that has metastasized into her lungs, which ultimately leads to a terminal diagnosis. Needless to say, she takes the news poorly and becomes depressed as "Depression is not a side effect of cancer, it's a side effect of dying." Under the pushes and prodding of her parents (Laura Dern and Sam Trammell) and her doctor (Ana Dela Cruz), Hazel crawls out of bed and attends a cancer support group at the local church. It is there where the soon-to-be-dead dame crosses paths with Gus (Ansel Elgort), a handsome teen that is also dealing with his own oncological issues, so much so that it has led to him getting his right leg amputated. But his attitude about his limited time left on earth is markedly different from Hazel's. A shared glance leads to a movie date, which eventually leads to the cancer-inflicted teens going on an emotional journey of discovery. They'll even track down Hazel's favorite author (Willem Dafoe) all the way in Amsterdam. It’s all fun, games and fornication until cancer trumps Gus and Hazel’s romance, tearfully extinguishing the glimmer of light in their stars. In between all the death and sadness, Ansel Elgort emerges to show off his buff body while he gets hot and heavy with his co-star. We can't fault anyone for being kind of weirded out that the same pair played siblings in Divergent (2014), but if you get past that you won't be able to get enough of Baby Driver's (2017) chest as he does some baby-making. There’s certainly no fault in Ansel’s physique! Ansel takes his shirt off and it's like Boom! Fap! in The Fault in Our Stars
