Writer Stephen King is known as the “King of Horror” thanks to his supernatural stories that were made into spooky movies. But unlike Carrie (1976), The Shining (1980), Christine (1983) and It (2017), King is also responsible for the prison dramas The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and The Green Mile (1999). Set in the 1930s, the latter film follows death row guard Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks in his Blockbuster Entertainment Award-winning role) and prisoner John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan in his Black Reel and Saturn Award-winning turn). Although big and built, Coffey is actually mild mannered. Too bad this gentle giant was wrongly accused and convicted of a heinous crime. Later, we learn Coffey’s fellow prisoner, the cold-blooded psychopath William “Wild Bill” Wharton (Sam Rockwell), is the real culprit. Nevertheless, Coffey will face the electric chair. Yet before this unjust deed is done, Coffey shows signs of his mysterious heeling powers. Alas, he cannot heal himself from execution. Under the pen and direction of Frank Darabont (who also adapted King’s novel into the screenplay), the flick was a critical and box office hit. It even picked up four Academy Award nominations including one for Best Picture. Of course, Mr. Man was won over by Mr. Rockwell’s revealing role. Fast forward to the 56-minute mark to see the dude’s nude booty when he puts on his jailhouse jumpsuit. Granted, his character is drooling during the scene — but who are we to judge, since seeing the arresting actor’s bare buns makes us drool too!
