The Innocent (2021)

9 years ago, Mateo Vidal (Mario Casas), found himself pulled into a fight while trying to protect his brother and ended up accidentally killing the man in the process.  Mateo gets a good old fashioned charge of "negligent homicide" for his part in the brawl and ends up doing 4 years of hard time in the pokey.  Like anyone who goes to the big house, he hardens up considerably and after serving his time, he is released and begins to put his life back together one relationship at a time.  He's rekindling his romance with the woman he met while on furlough from prison, Olivia, then he gets a job at his brother's law firm to meet the conditions of his release, and things are looking up for Mateo.  It wouldn't be a thriller though if his redemption arc just ends at him getting out of jail and things begin to get hazy with Mateo.  He's having flashbacks to his time behind bars and then his family members begin to die off, one by one, under mysterious circumstances.  While the deaths of his loved ones appear to simply be tragic accidents, he can't help but shake the feeling that there is something more from his past this could be causing these horrific events to be happening to him.  Then he begins to get mysterious phone calls from Olivia's phone while she's away on business and he now realizes The Innocent aren't always as innocent as they appear!  This thriller from the mind of author Harlan Coben is going to put a chill down your spine and the full frontal action from Xavi Sáez will put a stiff one in your pants!
