Written by Shane Black and directed by Renny Harlin, The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) attempted to meld 90s action thrillers with noir-ish style and snappy filth-laden dialogue, and it's a damn fun time while it's at it! Geena Davis stars as Samantha, an amnesiac schoolteacher who is actually Charly, a CIA-trained assassin who was left for dead 8 years prior and began a new life in total ignorance of her former life. When her memories begin to be unlocked, however, she learns that she can't trust anyone except for Mitch (Samuel L. Jackson), a P.I. she hired to figure out who the hell she is. The flick is a rollicking good time and severely underrated, as is Samuel L. Jackson's hotness level, which is off the chart in this movie! The then-47 year old actor looks sensational without a shirt, which happens a lot more frequently than you might think in this can't miss action classic!
