Oranges are juicy and sweet, just like the action is in Julian Farino's romantic comedy The Oranges (2011). David and Paige Walling (Hugh Laurie and Catherine Keener) and Terry and Cathy Ostroff (Oliver Platt and Allison Janney) are longtime friends and neighbors living in West Orange, New Jersey. Their enjoyable suburban existence goes crazy when daughter Nina Ostroff (Leighton Meester) returns home for Thanksgiving after a five-year absence, having recently separated from her San Francisco based fiancé Ethan (Sam Rosen). It's supposed to be a short stay, but she lingers far longer than anyone expected. That makes things awkward when the Wallings' daughter Vanessa (Alia Shawkat) accuses Nina of ditching her for the cool kids back in high school after they grew up being best friends. Worse, while everyone would love for Nina to go out with the Ostroff's son Toby (Adam Brody), instead of dating dudes her own age, the desirable daughter begins to hook up with David, leaving behind a trail of chaos, unhappiness and upheaval that forces both families to closely reexamine their lives. Is Nina going to ruin everything for both families, or will the pair come to their senses and break things off? Often compared to American Beauty (1999), you may well be dying for a May-December romance of your own after seeing Oliver Platt shirtless! Break us off a piece of that! You'll splat when Mr. Platt removes his shirt and shows off his hairy chest while trying to get his wife in the mood. Dude! If only he'd unpeeled his pants! Still, orange you glad he took his shirt off? We are! You'll be juicing your junk watching that scene in The Oranges!
