Biography

Tony Beckley had Shakespearean beginnings as an actor on the London stage and wound up being known for work in camp and horror movies. Go figure! This Southampton hottie began his career in the late 1950s on TV with a breakout role in Dig This Rhubarb (1963). He then played Ned Poins in Chimes at Midnight (1965), Freddie in The Italian Job (1969), Harrison Chase in Doctor Who (1976) and Peter the Dutchman in Get Carter (1971). He plays Curt Duncan in When a Stranger Calls (1979) and is, spoiler alert, the titular stranger. He lets us get familiar with him when he checks out his nude body in a bathroom.
