Wham! (2023)

Coming almost forty years to the day after the release of their first album, 1983's Fantastic, the 2023 Netflix Original Documentary Wham! covers the lifelong friendship of its two members, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley! While the duo is best remembered for their enduring pop hits like "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go," "Freedom," and "Last Christmas," the doc gives us a greater insight into the many sides of the band, from Ridgeley's dissatisfaction with the music industry in general combined with Michael's own struggles to live his truth as a gay man who was essentially shamed into staying in the closet for the good of his career. 

Equal parts fun, wistful, and melancholy, the doc does an incredible job of shining a spotlight on the pair's personal and professional partnership that began when they were both school boys! The film's sexiest scene, however, covers the writing of and filming of the music video for their song "Club Tropicana," off their aforementioned debut album, featuring both Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael sporting swimsuits, with Michael opting for a white speedo that nicely accentuates his bulge! Slam! Bam! Thank you Wham!
