Set in Australia's Botany Bay in 1788, the BBC boob tube series Banished revolves around the first penal colony established by the British in New South Wales. Debuting in 2015 but only lasting one seven-episode season, David Wenham stars as Governor Arthur Phillip, an idealist who strives to turn Sydney from a penal colony into a prosperous land. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Major Ross (Joseph Millson) wants to rule with an iron fist. Among the convicts, Tommy (Julian Rhind-Tutt), James (Russell Trovey), and Elizabeth (Myanna Buring), three inmates among a thousand, make the best of a bad situation by forging friendships and trying to maintain a semblance of normality. With 100 guards stuck living alongside 1000 convicts, the constant threat of the indigenous tribes making it clear they don't appreciate England dumping its dastardly dudes onto their land, lots of inmates looking to escape or overthrow their captors, and constant fighting amongst the prisoners, Banished had enough drama to last for decades. What happened? Well, critics and fans didn't love the show, especially the constant threat of sexual assault the women on the island had to contend with and the complete lack of Indigenous representation. But what really disappointed Mr. Man was the lack of nudity on the show. Isn't this supposed to be about prison? No group showers? No man on man loving? One week on Botany Bay and all those dudes would've turned super gay! What a ripoff! All we get in terms of skin is a look at the longhaired stud Joseph Millson lying shirtless in bed with a lovely blonde woman. Major Ross is giving us a major boner! At least she was getting some good penal colony penis! What's hotter than an Australian bad boy with flowing hair? Not much! Banished will have you famished for some awesome Aussie man meat!
