Christopher Backus is a California native whose tanned skin and grungy long hair gives us serious L.A. vibes in Roadies—and those vibes are cruising toward Mr. Man, making him one happy dude. As Rick Bayless (not the chef) in the Showtime series about musicians and sex and drugs and putting on a show, Christopher enjoys life a little too much, and has to be de-pants and shot up with amphetamines. He’s already naked from the waste up, so the extra skin is a bonus, especially since it’s the butt that’s bared. He reveals further skin when he re-joined his Roadies co-star Carla Gugino in her Cinemax series, guesting as Bennie on Jett (Anyone else singing Elton in their heads? Just Mr. Man? Okay, then.). And, too, he gets topless with very low-slung pants in the movie Indiscretion (2016), where he stars as Victor Bernard along with his real-life wife, Mira Sorvino (Who knew? Right?). You’ve seen Christopher elsewhere, too, even if more fully dressed. He made his TV debut playing Adam in an episode of Will & Grace in 2004, then proceeded to do pop-ups on The O.C., Huge, Life on Mars, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Mentalist, Perception, Sons of Anarchy, and Mindhunter. He played recurring characters Jeremiah in Underground in 2016, Woody Woodrow in Bosch in 2017, Joe in Big Little Lies in 2019, and Holt Redding in Truth Be Told in 2021. For longer fare, you can spy Christopher in feature films, too, in the roles of Juju Joe in Chloe & Theo (2015) with Dakota Johnson, Burger Beard Sr. in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015), and Eagan Raize in Rogue Hostage(2021) with John Malkovich, as well as several other ventures with his lovely bride, including Union Square(2011), A Dog & Pony Show (2018), Waterlily Jaguar (2018), Beneath the Leaves (2019) and Drowning (2019).
