Gallows humor gets literal in the UK comedy Death at a Funeral (2007), not to be confused with 2010’s same-named American remake starring James MardsenLuke Wilson, and Martin Lawrence. Under the direction of Frank Oz, this R rated flick follows the zany repercussions that surface when a family gets together to bury their late father. As the bereaving Brits struggle to keep a stiff upper lip, you may be feeling a stiffy under your jeans due to the movie’s several nude scenes. The mayhem begins when a mysterious Yank (Peter Dinklage) tries to expose some secrets surrounding the deceased. Hysterical hijinks ensue for alluring offspring Daniel (Matthew Macfadyen), Robert (Rupert Graves), and Troy (Kris Marshall). The film also features Daisy Donovan, Ewen Bremner, Jane Asher, Keeley Hawes, Peter Egan, Peter Vaughan, and the skin on Alan Tudyk. While playing Simon (who takes a hallucinogenic drug), the skintastic actor spends most of the romp in the buff! In addition to parading his naked chest, Alan’s butt receives a starring part as the nude dude comes in and out of scenes sans clothes. If that’s not cheeky enough, the bottomless bloke climbs on the roof of the house while still in the raw. In other words, Mr. Tudyk’s privates become public at the film’s 00:52:26, 01:07:26, 01:09:42, and 01:12:25 marks. Maybe that’s why the funny flick received an Audience Award at both the US Comedy Arts Festival and the Locarno International Film Festival — not to mention a statuette in Mr. Man’s pants!
