Johannesburg is known for its art museums and shopping malls as well as nearby attractions like Hartbeespoort Dam, Lesedi Cultural Village, and Lion Park. The City of Gold also boasts silver screen star Gert Van den Bergh. Not to be confused with the Dutch politician Gert van den Berg, Mr. Van den Bergh was a swarthy South African actor. Although the handsome hunk passed way when he was just 47 years old, his sexy presence was immortalized in motion pictures from the last century. Gert’s gruff exterior and impressive performance skills made him a natural asset to the action adventure genre. After appearing in the crime flicks Diamond Safari (1958), The Hellions (1961) and Mozambique (1964), Gert popped up in the British war epic Zulu (1964) with Stanley Baker, Michael Caine, Jack Hawkins, Ulla Jacobsson, James Booth, and Paul Daneman. Next came the thriller Code 7, Victim 5 (1964) featuring Lex Barker, Ronald Fraser, and Gert’s bulging bathing trunks. When the topless hottie rubs lotion on his leading lady Ann Smyrner, you’ll start rubbing yourself too! In 1965, the busy babe could be seen in Tokoloshe, Debbie, Diamond Walkers, King Hendrik, Die Wonder, Die Wonderwêreld van Kammie Kamfer, Sandy the Seal, and the suggestively-titled The Naked Prey. But don’t get your hopes (among other things) up since the latter movie includes no nudity. Nor does Van den Bergh get especially wild in Wild Season (1967) or become sinful in The Second Sin (1966). Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy watching him!
