Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)

Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022) attempts to normalize sex work by casting Emma Thompson in a movie about a sex worker. No, really. It's not a message movie, per se, but it definitely wants heteronormative society to see sex work as a legitimate business. 

Thompson stars as Nancy, a middle aged widow who wants to have sex again, but doesn't want to go through the whole rigamarole of dating. Frankly, she wants to have really good sex for the first time as her husband was a bit of a cold fish in bed, so a friend suggests she hire a sex worker and that's how she comes to employ Leo Grande (Daryl McCormack). 

The biracial Irish beauty is seemingly everything Nancy could've hoped for and the two have a night of sex and self discovery as they talk about many different things and share their perspectives on wildly different subjects. Overall, the meek schoolteacher wants to know how the young man can make a living by having sex.

It's not quite as pandering as all that, the film definitely has a positive view of sex work and the entire industry at large. It's more than just a movie about a woman who wants to have her first orgasm at 55 or a guy who doesn't view his job as a stepping stone to anything greater.

And hey, it's a heck of an introduction to all that Daryl McCormack has to offer, namely his ass and his penis, which can both be seen around the 90 minute mark! A star is born... and you'll be shooting!
