In A Land That No Longer Exists is director Aelrun Goette's love letter to East Germany before the fall of the Wall in 1989. We're whisked away to the thriving but little-known fashion industry in East Berlin, where a beautiful teen girl becomes a model and even lands herself on the cover of a magazine that was considered at the time to be the East Berlin Vogue. Our girl, named Suzie, not only survives in German Democratic Republic, she thrives! She's our window into the wild underground parties and antiestablishmentarianism that fueled the souls of GDR youths. Suzie ends up meeting some questionable guys and getting into some hot water, but at the end of the day, In A Land That No Longer Exists is simply about bringing this wild place to life on screen.
