Review

Known more today for its amazing punk rock soundtrack and shot under the working title Mark of the Beast, the supernatural spiritual horror flick Fear No Evil (1981) is another riff on The Exorcist (1973). This time, Father Damon (John Holland) is more than an exorcist, as we meet him murdering a man who claimed to be the devil himself, and he promises prior to his death that he will return. In 1980, a young man named Andrew (Stefan Arngrim) appears at the scene of this crime, declaring himself to be the Antichrist. At this same time, Father Daly (Frank Birney) is visited by an elderly woman named Margaret (Elizabeth Hoffman), who reveals that the now deceased Father Damon was actually the Archangel Raphael, and it will be up to a team of Archangels to stop this powerful new Antichrist! Back to said Antichrist for a moment, poor Stefan Arngrim gets bullied in the locker room shower where—in typical 80s movie fashion—all these guy have to shower nude together! What a terrible system, thank goodness it was abolished, though thankfully not before we get to see bully Daniel Eden fully nude as he and some other nude extras harass poor Stefan!
