Like many up-and-coming actors in New Zealand, John found a place for himself with a recurring role on the hit soap Shortland Street. When the titular street came to a dead end, John moved on to successful spots on the shows Mercy Peak, Serial Killers, Diplomatic Immunity, and Outrageous Fortune. Fans of John have never had the fortune of seeing him in the buff, but thanks to the cheeky and popular drama series The Almighty Johnsons, we got to see him shirtless, sporting a beard, and acting fatherly at the breakfast table on season one, episode five.
