Jose Cancel might night be a household name, but Miss Vanjie definitely is. Miss Vanessa "Vanjie" Mateo is the drag persona of Jose Cancel who is best known for being a tiny Latinx starlet from New York with a big mouth and a loud raspy voice. Boy, is Miss Vanjie loud! Jose's TV debut came in RuPaul's Drag Race where his drag queen persona Miss Vanjie made sure everyone knows her name by seductively repeating her own name as she shantayed away on the runway. It was silly, nonsensical, and so memorable. Now even people who have never seen RuPaul's Drag Race know about Miss Vanjie. Miss Vanjie is loud and proud as a queen, but that's just one part of Jose's life. Jose is just a loud, but Jose as a person is much shier than his alter ego Vanjie. That being said, he embraces Vanjie as the excuse to be wild and has starred in the series AJ and the Queen (2020) as, once again, Vanjie. He returns to reality TV on RuPaul's Drag Race: Vegas Revue (2020) where he and other famous drag queens return to the Ru-universe to perform on a life show on the Vegas Strip. Speaking of strip, Jose gets ready in the dressing room with no shirt on. Jose only has tights on as he sits in front of the mirror and applies makeup on that adorable little face of his.
