France’s Lambert Wilson is internationally known for his portrayal of The Merovingian opposite Keanu Reeves in the sci-fi action flicks The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), and The Matrix Resurrections (2021). The 6’ 3” stunner screen-tested to play James Bond in the 1980s, re-enacting scenes seen in From Russia to Love (1963) with The Living Daylights (1987)Bond girl Maryam d’Abo. But the Perfect 10 lost out to Timothy Dalton since 007 is British, not a French “dəbəl ō ˈsevən.” Granted, Lambert did attend the Drama Centre London to learn English. Since then, he scored roles in Fred Zinneman’s Oscar-nominated drama Julia (1977) and romance movie Five Days One Summer (1982) alongside none other than the first James Bond, Sean Connery. The handsome hottie sizzled in Peter Greenaway’s The Belly of an Architect (1987). But we think it should have been called The Body of an Actor. In The Leading Man (1996), leading man Lambert shows off his post-sex hairy chest! Too bad we can’t follow his fuzz down to his treasure beneath the sheets. Monsieur Wilson racked up two back-to-back César Award nominations for the erotic dramas The Public Woman (1984) and Rendez-vous (1985). Ooh la la! More César noms followed with Same Old Song (1997), Jet Set (2000), Of Gods and Men (2010), and Hiver 54, l'abbé Pierre (1989) which won Wilson the Prix Jean Gabin. Lambert won our “prix” with his topless turns in the costume drama Marquise (1997) and the crime thriller Rabid Dogs (2015). Woof!
