Mahershalalhashbaz is a mouthful to say, and we’d love to have a mouthful of Mahershalalhashbaz! Of course the tall, dark and handsome actor/rapper is also known as Mahershala Karim-Ali, Hershal Gilmore, and most notably Mahershala Ali. Decades ago, the ebony thespian fed our physician fantasies when he played doctor on the hit crime show Crossing Jordan (2001-2002). The boob tube babe also portrayed Jelani Harper on the ABC drama Threat Matrix (2003-2004) and Richard Tyler on CBS’s science fiction series The 4400 (2004-2007). During a guest spot on the eerie anthology series Room 104 (2018), Ali exposed his chiseled chest. The same can be said of his small screen stint as Remy Danton on Netflix’s political saga House of Cards (2013-2016). Perhaps that’s why Ali received his first Emmy nomination. The esteemed performer scored another nod for his shirtless turn as Wayne Hays on HBO’s crime show True Detective (2019). But Mahershala really found fame when he became the only Black man to win the Best Supporting Actor category twice at the Academy Awards: first for Moonlight (2016) and then for flashing his abs in Green Book (2018). If that’s not impressive enough, Ali can also be seen in The Hunger Games movies (2014, 2015) and heard in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). Equally successful on film (Predators, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and TV (Treme, Alphas), Ali has a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Luke Cage (2016-2018) and Eternals (2021). Needless to say, this superhero stud is super!
