This tall, dark, and handsome South African hails from Johannesburg and started performing early, earning the coveted role of young Simba in a production of the stage version of The Lion King in 2006. He studied drama at The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance while continuing his profession acting career Notable roles include JT on Rhythm City (2007), Mo on Gauteng Maboneng (2011), and Nelson Mandela’s son Thembi in Madiba (2017). He appeared as Lucky Gumede on the series Goldiggers and then again on Gold Diggers 2, then in 2019 he popped onto South Africa’s biggest teen drama Isithembiso to play the son of a corrupt mayor. In 2022, Mpho was introduced as the newest addition to the cast of the popular Netflix series Blood and Water, playing Lunga Vezi, a gay newcomer who shares an intense lip lock with Arno Greeff. It’s a steamy, sweet moment during a darker and more dangerous third season of this not-so-typical teen drama.
