One Life to Live is one of the most iconic soap operas to ever exist. It began airing in 1968 and surrounded the antics of the rich Lord family and the middle-class Riley family and Wolek family all in the fake town on Llanview, Pennsylvania. Wealth, love, betrayal, and countless jaw-dropping twists and turns were the name of the game in this ABC soap opera that ran for over four decades until 2013 when it finally came to an end. The show made history as the first TV show to depict an interracial relationship as well as controversially having plots surrounding drug addiction in the early days of the show. Not only that, but plots surrounded personality disorders, cults, the supernatural, international affairs, underground cities, and even time traveling through different dimensions. All of that in one daytime soap opera! Another historic first for this show was the first gay male kiss on daytime television. They had several gay storylines, including one with a young Ryan Phillippe, but the first kiss is the most legendary. Scott Evans and Brett Claywell shared a sensual gay kiss after one of these beautiful, strong-jawed men massaged the shoulders of the other. Then he turned around and the two planted their lips together, making history and magic for all who watched. No wonder housewives across America tuned in to this show. Hot men kissing each other? Sign us all up! One Life to Live broke so many boundaries and we are forever grateful that they gave us a kiss that will live on in soap opera infamy.
