Review

Jesus Franco had all sorts of sex-filled flicks with plots centered around vampires, virgins, and other typical trashy flick fare. But the aptly named She Killed in Ecstasy (1971) did things a bit differently. This one was all about using sex as a vengeance tool against some people who shut down a doctor's potentially life altering research. Dr. Johnson (Fred Williams), a young and handsome doctor with a burgeoning career, is researching human embryos using animal cells. He claims he's figured out a way to make organisms resistant to cancer, which is going to make him rich and famous, never mind how many lives he will save. When he brings his research to a medical committee for approval, his work is deemed inhuman and his lab, along with all of his research, is destroyed. Traumatized by the ruling and the demolition of his life's work, Dr. Johnson commits suicide, sending his wife (Soledad Miranda) into a panic spiral of her own. Two years later, and she's still not over it. Knowing she won't be satisfied until all the scientists responsible for her husband's death are dead, one by one, she seduces the committee members and kills them during sex. She even does it while doing it to the female scientists. Jesus Franco depicts these erotically charged kills in graphic authenticity. Professor Johnathan Walker (Howard Vernon) is one victim of Soledad's seduction, and we see it all—down to his balls as she climbs on top of him, only to slice his throat! Mr. Man was pretty ecstatic getting to see that Swiss silver fox's dick! The aptly named She Kills in Ecstasy (1971) is dark, dangerous, and well, pretty damn sexy.
