The French Dispatch (2021)

For his tenth feature film, director Wes Anderson once again puts his fastidious talents to use telling a tale set in an imaginary world that resembles ours with The French Dispatch (2021)! The film, which is his first anthology film, tells three stories set in and around the world of the titular fictional periodical in the French town of Ennui-sur-Blasé. One story centers around journalist Lucinda Krementz (Frances McDormand) covering the French student protests in the spring of 1968, in particular her interest in one student revolutionary named Zeffirelli (Timothée Chalamet). Another story covers prestigious art dealer Julien Cadazio (Adrien Brody) attempting to acquire the work of noted criminal artist Moses Rosenthaler (Benicio Del Toro). The third story focuses on the magazine's founder Arthur Howitzer Jr. (Bill Murray) who bails revolutionary writer Roebuck Wright (Jeffrey Wright) out of prison to secure exclusive rights to his fantastical story about a nascent kidnapper (Edward Norton). Along the way there are all manner of Wes Anderson touches from the intricate production design to his always important mise en scène, along with his usual stable of actors and a few new additions along for the ride for the very first time! One such newcomer is the always welcome Timothée Chalamet, who appears to show off his rather sizable penis in a clip released from the film following its Cannes 2021 premiere!
