This flick out of Germany teaches us yet again a very valuable lesson from history, the Nazis were a bunch of assholes and the world is a better place without them!  In The German Lesson, we follow the teenager Siggi Jepsen (Tom Gronau) during the post World War 2 rebuilding period in Germany; as Siggi is placed in a detention center for troubled youths who might end up becoming full blown criminals.  When he is placed in the juvenile detention center and gets into his jail cell, he is strip searched and tasked to write an essay about "the pleasure of duty".  With writing assignment in hand and a thoroughly searched body cavity situation, he puts pen to paper and tells us the tale of his police officer father, who is a harsh disciplinarian and local liaison for the Nazi party and helping them carrying out their Gestapo tactics in the area.  One of the tasks his father is asked to do is stop his good friend, who is an eccentric painter, to stop painting because his art might be "subversive", but Siggi not only connects to the art, he connects to the kindly painter who acts like a second father to him and show him the world of open thinking and creativity.  So who does the young Siggi side with, his actually mean dad or his kindly surrogate father?  As this story unfolds and we jump back and forth from war torn Germany and the post war period, we get to see an interesting look at how the worst evil of all time peripherally affected a family on the fringe of Nazi policy.  Lucky for us, they cast the terrific and sexy Tom Gronau as the older Siggi and he has a couple of strip search scenes where he goes full frontal and it is delightful!
