The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone (2003)

A remake of a 1961 film that was based on a novel by playwright Tennessee Williams, this made for television movie stars perennial sex symbol Helen Mirren as an aging stage actress who’s wealthy husband dies on the way to their Roman holiday. She decides to stay in Italy and retire, and a year later she is introduced to a handsome young gigolo named Paolo (Olivier Martinez) by his fancy “procurer”, Contessa Magda Terribili-Gonzales (Anne Bancroft). Things start out innocently enough but eventually the actress and escort are having a full blown affair and she falls in love with him, while he and the Contessa plot against her. She kids herself that Paolo loves her because she doesn’t actually pay him but rather buys him nice things, but eventually he grows bored and cold and leaves her for a younger starlet,, nit not before we get some shirtless quickie in a car and a skin credible nude sunbathing scene with just a magazine covering Olivier’s Italian sausage. It’s make something spring up in your pants!
