If the devil made you do it, we can only assume he took the form of Welsh hottie Tom Ellis. As the lead in the Fox TV series Lucifer, which was later moved to Netflix, the tall, dark, and handsome prototype stars as Lucifer Morningstar, the big guy from hell who decides to take a vacation from his fiery abode to run a nightclub in Los Angeles (and solve crimes, too). Born in Cardiff, Tom brought his charm, trademark five o’clock shadow, and 6’3” lean frame to TV screens in the UK, including roles on Nice Guy Eddie in 2002, Waking the Dead in 2005, and a long-running role as Dr. Oliver in the popular EastEnders in 2006. He’s also appeared in Suburban ShootoutHarley StreetMonday MondayMerlinGates, and Miranda before heading to Hollywood. In the US, he starred as Victor Frankenstein in the TV movie Gothica (2013), then landed the starring role of William P. Rush in the USA network series Rush in 2014. It only lasted for one season, but don’t feel sad for Tom, because by 2016, he was enchanting everyone as Lucifer, a part he played all the way through to the end in 2021. In several of the 93 episodes, you can often find his toned physique shirtless, and in the later years on Netflix, sans pants, too. Ironically, while Tom plays the devil, his dad is a Baptist minister. So is his uncle. And his sister. And his brother-in-law. As for the actor himself? “It’s always fun to play bad characters.”
