Twice Upon a Time (2019)

The one that got away can't get away when you figure out how to time travel and stop yourself from screwing everything up, right? That was the theory the dude in Twice Upon a Time (2019), the French sci-fi miniseries that aired on Arte in France and on Netflix everywhere else, believed. Vincent (Gaspard Ulliel) is a thirty-something single dad who just got dumped by Louise (Freya Mavor) who dumped him a while back, then died. One day he gets a package delivered to the house that wasn't meant for him. Bored and sad, he opens it and finds a time machine that takes him back nine months to when him and Louise were still a couple, but also lets him jump back to the present whenever he wants. He keeps jumping back in time to try and save the relationship, but whenever he returns to the present people are concerned with how weird he's becoming, how increasingly isolated he is, and how obsessed with the past he seems to be. Plus, there's the whole issue of who exactly the time machine was supposed to be sent to. This is a French show, so you can expect a whole lot of philosophy and not a ton of fireworks. But that doesn't mean it's boring. After all, in two separate post-sex scenes we see Gaspard's balls, buns and dong. Gasp! We're hard! Seriously, that's a nice unit you've got there! Watching Mr. Ulliel, Mr. Man couldn't help but drool! Mr. Man will have to do some time traveling back to when Gaspard unveiled his time hopping cock and have another look! One just wasn't enough in Twice Upon a Time!
