When it came time to finally make a biopic of beloved pop parodist "Weird Al" Yankovic, it's fitting that the finished product—Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)—is itself a parody of biopics. The way that the accordion playing curly-haired master parodist riffed on pop songs, the film's Weird Al (Daniel Radcliffe) riffs on the beats of a standard issue musician biopic, manufacturing controversies, torrid love affairs with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood), and run-ins with a veritable who's who of famous people playing other famous people, many of them Yankovic contemporaries. Not since Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007) has the music biopic been so thoroughly run through the wringer. In the bargain, we've gotten the sexiest Weird Al imaginable in the former boy wizard Daniel Radcliffe, who is ripped in this flick and doesn't hesitate to whip off his shirt in this insane parody of raging shirtless alpha male machismo. Hilarious and sexy... a deadly combination!
