Review

We can assume that it goes without saying, being a gay dancer in Eastern Europe is no picnic for anyone.  In this coming-of-age story set in Georgia (not that one), we focus on the Georgia National Dance Ensemble and at the center of the ballet-esque traditional Georgian dance world, Merab (Levan Gelvakhiani).  This young and idealistic dancer's entire life is focused on joining the ensemble, becoming the best dancer in the world, and fighting off the constant temptations, distractions, and nay-sayers, all the while being stuck in the narrow minded and homophobic world that surrounds him.  Well, as the old saying goes "How do you get to Carnegie Hall???  Practice, Practice, Practice!"  So as Merab burns himself out with perfecting his craft, he begins to make a name for himself, that is until the effortlessly talented Irakli (Bachi Valishvili) shows up to the ensemble.  Irakli is just the opposite of Merab, wild, perfect at dance without all the practice, and of course a total babe that everyone seems to be enamored with.  So Irakli is quietly destroying his world and pushing him harder than he ever expected to exceed his own ability, but in the process Merab can't take his eyes off the tall, dark, and handsome bad boy who is turning his world upside down.  Love, dancing, conflict, with a former iron curtain country backdrop...  What more could you want from a movie?  Well, of course we want to see tight dancers bodies.. Doy!  So we definitely get plenty of both Levan Gelvakhiani and Bachi Valishvili shirtless and doing the ol' twirly whirly around the studio, sharing some kisses, and burning up the screen.  So take off your pants...
