Ask the Dust (2006) has big written all over it. First, it's directed by Robert Towne, the man responsible for Chinatown (1974). Second, it's based on a novel by John Fante, the original Los Angeles literary bum, from whom Charles Bukowski got most of his shtick. Third, and biggest of all, it stars Colin Farrell.
