Review

Dirty movies don’t necessarily have to carry an X or NC17 rating. For example, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) is rated PG while Dirty Dancing (1987), Joe Dirt (2001) and Dirt (2018) are rated PG-13. On the small screen, Dirty Lies (2017) and The Dirt (2019) are rated TV-14 just as That Dirty Black Bag (2022) is rated TV-MA. Furthermore, an R rating accompanied the theatrical releases of Dirty Filthy Love (2004), Dirty (2005), Dirty Grandpa (2016) and Dirty Sexy Saint (2019). Yet sometimes a movie won’t have any rating. This usually pertains to an indie flick or a short film that didn’t receive distribution. Both situations ring true for the 11-minute movie Dirty (2020). Under the pen and direction of Matthew Puccini (who also produced the movie with Cecilia Delgado and Jeremy Truong), the gay coming of age tale follows a kid named Marco (Morgan Sullivan) who cuts class to hang out with his boyfriend Graham (Manny Dunn). Alas, their flirty tryst does not go as anticipated. But if you anticipated seeing gay sex? The young studs doff their duds before Morgan gets on top of Manny. As such, we can admire the topless hotties’ bare chests as they feel flesh on flesh. Although Mr. Puccini was supposed to go to South by Southwest (SXSW) to present his short, the COVID virus prevented him. But thanks to a virtual screening, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Dunn received a Special Jury Recognition for Acting! In other words, Dirty can be streamed in every sense!
