The Shuroo Process (2021) takes a look at the wellness cult industry in a comedic way. A freelance writer in New York City is struggling with her career at the moment and she feels frustrated by the obstacles she faces in the publishing world. It doesn't help that her love life is also going down the toilet after the guy she has been seeing tells her he is going on vacation with his ex-wife. She loses it! She decides that she needs a change, so she gets into a self-help guru named Shuroo. She goes out to the wellness retreat where Shuroo immediately tells them, in a tongue-in-cheek way, that he is going to take all their money and isolate them from their families. But actually...is that what is going to happen for real? Soon they are all wearing white, doing tai-chi outside, and having very deep conversations. Donal Brophy is the bro with the most because he plays Guru Shuroo himself. He also has sex with one of his followers because, duh, that's what they do. We love it when he bangs a bang in a dark scene.
