Im Knast (2015)

In reality, prison life is no laughing matter. But on screen it’s another story as seen in the crime comedies The Dirty Dozen (1967) with Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson; Take the Money and Run (1969) with Woody Allen; The Longest Yard (1974) with Burt Reynolds; Stir Crazy (1980) with Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor; Doin’ Time (1985) with Muhammad Ali; Ernest Goes to Jail (1990) with Jim Varney; and Get Hard with Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart (2015). Although not as well-known as these American flicks, we have to include the German series Im Knast (2015-2017). This small screen romp follows the misadventures of Erdem Azimut (Denis Moschitto), Manfred “Manni” Schuster (Tristan Seith) and Alexander “Graf” Vontrab (Manuel Rubey). The three guys are locked up for different reasons. Yet their friendship grows as they come to grips with their situation and their hope for a better future. The story also includes Nora Meindl (Marleen Lohse), Ivan (Anton Levit), and Dr. Kempers (Wilfried Hochholdinger). Of course, you’ll want to play doctor when you watch Denis strip down during a therapy session. Seen through surveillance footage, the impatient patient gets angry so he starts doing push-ups in the buff. When the doc’s assistant (Carolin Poppenberg) runs for the phone to call security, you may have a lockdown on your lower region since Mr. Moschitto’s bare chest and nude booty is on display when he hits the floor and starts to exercise. Needless you say, the sexy scene will give your wrist a workout!
