Mr. Man has a taste for the mouthwatering dudity in Like Water for Chocolate (1992), not to be confused with the award-winning pic Chocolat (2000) starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. Based on Laura Esquivel’s same-named novel, the R rated flick is directed and produced by Alfonso Arau of A Walk in the Clouds (1995) fame. This romantic drama mixes the erotic with the gastronomic as it concocts a feast for all of the senses. Set in the early 1900s, the story follows a young woman named Tita (Lumi Cavazos). She agrees to remain unmarried so she can care for her mother Elena (Regina Torné). But when she falls for the gallant Pedro Muzquiz (Marco Leonardi), Tita begins to realize that the dull demands of servitude are unfairly constraining. As such, the film draws sensuous connections between sweet sex and spicy cooking. Or is it the other way around? Regardless, Mr. Leonardi is a visual dessert since the handsome actor bares his body at the 01:38:00 mark. Indeed, we get to see Marco’s hairy chest and all of the rest — we’re talking torso, balls and penis! Too bad it’s after his character dies. Talk about being drop dead gorgeous! Perhaps that’s why Like Water for Chocolate received Ariel Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, and more. Also known as Como agua para chocolate, this Mexican movie features dialogue in English and Spanish yet seeing the leading man’s junk means there’s no need for any talk!
