Review

The decidedly Canadian pastime of curling finally gets its due in the sports comedy Men with Brooms (2002). While the film is most often remembered for its brief appearance by Leslie Nielsen, it's actually a funny and sexy look at a sport that most people know nothing about. Nor care to! Director Paul Gross also stars in the film, playing disgraced former leader of a small Canadian town's curling team Chris Cutter. Ten years ago, he got caught cheating during a match and was so ashamed of it that he left his fiancé (Michelle Nolden) and vowed never to return back to town. But when rink owner Donald Foley (James B. Douglas) dies and writes in his will that the rink will go to whoever wins a curling tournament in his memory, Chris decides to get the old team back together and win the tournament. Chris not only convinces the fellas to join him once again, but he brings in his dad (Leslie Nielsen) to serve as their coach. From there, it's a classic sports comedy setup, just centered around a sport you probably don't understand. In the film's most skinsational scene, the core quartet of players played by James Allodi, Jed Rees, Peter Outerbridge, and Gross all go skinny dipping, giving us some sensational shots of their seat meat as they plunge into the water and climb back out of it! There's even a brief full-frontal shot, but good luck making anything out since it goes by super fast! We'd love to get our hands on all those skin stones! You might even want to consider curling yourself, since this film's going to give your arm and hand quite the workout!
